The Dave Bretl Community Betterment Award honors an individual or nonprofit whose dedication, leadership, and service have made a meaningful and lasting impact on Walworth County. Eligible nominees must work for or serve a business, organization, or public office within the county and demonstrate at least one year of committed involvement.
This award recognizes those who go beyond their professional roles to strengthen the community in exceptional ways. Honorees exemplify:
- Volunteerism that uplifts residents and enhances local quality of life
- Financial support directed toward meaningful community causes
- Creation of impactful programs that address real needs and produce measurable results
- Development of effective policies that foster positive change
- Building of collaborative partnerships that unite organizations, businesses, or public entities around shared goals
- Exemplary community leadership that inspires others and drives progress across Walworth County
Recipients of the Dave Bretl Community Betterment Award embody spirit of service, collaboration, and community stewardship. Through their actions, they help make Walworth County a stronger, more connected, and more vibrant place to live and work.

- Work or serve a business, organization, or public office in Walworth County
- Have been involved for at least one year

"Grow My Business" Award
The "Grow My Business" Award recognizes a company that is actively investing in its people to drive long-term growth. This award celebrates organizations that understand workforce development is essential to sustained success—and that a strong, supported team is the foundation for future expansion.
Honorees demonstrate a commitment to:
- Training & Development: meaningful upskilling, reskilling, leadership or supervisory training, professional growth opportunities, and soft-skills development
- Culture Building: creating a workplace where employees feel valued through company events, onsite perks, flexible scheduling or work options, strong core values, and a focus on diversity and continuous learning
Recipients of the "Grow My Business" Award exemplify what it means to grow a business from the inside out—by cultivating talent, strengthening culture, and empowering employees to thrive.
They also stand out for being active collaborators with other organizations and groups, showing that growing a business means growing alongside the community.
Eligibility
- Have a permanent for profit business located in Walworth County
- Have been in operation for at least two years
